NISG signs MOU with Sikkim Manipal University

 

The Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India has taken the initiative to support capacity building of North East states for implementation of Digital India. The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the aegis of DeitY is executing this project and National Institute for Smart Government has been designated as the implementing agency for capacity building of North East states.
 
The initiative Preparing North East for Digital India offers a wide range of training programs in e-Governance, of which, the One year residential Diploma in e-Governance gains a special significance. The program is conceptualized by NISG, and will be offered by Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) through its constituent college Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT). It provides an exciting career opportunity for the participants to be a part of the national initiative. The program is completely sponsored by DeitY, GoI and is expected to benefit the young and vibrant officials of the North East state Governments who are involved or expected to play a key role in e-Governance projects.
 
On 1st April, 2016, the Vice Chancellor of Sikkim Manipal University and the Chief Executive Officer, National Institute for Smart Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for delivery of this program through SMU. 
 
The program brochure was launched by Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Shriniwas Patil, the Chancellor of Sikkim Manipal University at Raj Bhavan. During the launch, he urged the Government officials to avail the benefit of this program which can help them acquire employability skills and build their career in e-Governance. Governor also directed the SMU authorities to ensure highest standards of quality education and proper hospitality to the participants coming from other North East States  for the  program. He has also suggested that the selection of the candidates must be made on merit and post completion of the program the nominating authorities must ensure their utilization in the e-Governance projects.
 
Later, the project team of SMU & NISG apprised Chief Secretary, Shri Alok Srivastava, IAS and the Principal Secretary, Information Technology Department, Shri.Govind Mohan, IAS, about the Inauguration of program brochure and the MoU between SMU-NISG for Delivery of Diploma in e-Governance.  The Chief Secretary directed his officials to avail the benefit of this brilliant opportunity. The Department of Information Technology assured their full support in providing nominations and delivery of the program. 
 
The program is expected to commence in the month of June, 2016 and the total intake of the candidate is restricted to 25 participants for the first batch. The prospectus and the application form can be downloaded from the SMU website and the interested candidates can submit their applications online. The last date for submission of applications is 16th May, 2016.
