The Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, is the nodal agency in India, which deals with various aspects of plantation crops. The Department of Agriculture and Cooperation is committed to the welfare and economic upliftment of the farming community in general. The Department formulates and implements National Policies and Programmes for achieving rapid growth and development through optimum utilization of country's land, water, soil and plant resources. The Department of Agriculture and Cooperation is not only, engaged in formulation of national policies, but also supplements and complements the efforts being made by the State Governments to promote production and productivity of varied plantation crops. The Ministry comprises of Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Department of Agricultural Research & Education, and Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying.
