Project Genesis / Description

Employees’ State Insurance Scheme of India, is a multidimensional social security system tailored to provide socio-economic protection to worker population and their dependants covered under the scheme. Besides full medical care for self and dependants, that is admissible from day one of insurable employment, the insured persons are also entitled to a variety of cash benefits in times of physical distress due to sickness, temporary or permanent disablement etc. resulting in loss of earning capacity, the confinement in respect of insured women, dependants of insured persons who die in industrial accidents or because of employment injury or occupational hazard are entitled to a monthly pension called the dependants benefit.

Project Objectives

Project Panchdeep was already implemented by the SI (System Integrator) but there were certain critical application and operational issues. NISG had a series of discussions and meetings with ESIC and SI (System Integrator). Based on the common understanding arrived at during these discussions, NISG’s role was to:

  • Analyse various critical issues and provide the progress report for the same
  • Review the DC/DR implementation as per RFP and PSA
  • Review the overall implementation of ERP and Web based application
  • Analysis of overall IT and non-IT infrastructure

NISG's Methodology / Solution

NISG’s methodology in resolving these issues was very unique in the sense that it was not a run-of-the-mill assignment where one has to study the existing system and propose a solution. The system was already in place and working but with certain hiccups. NISG needed to identify those issues and come up with the solution which doesn’t impact the currently running system but at the same time facilitate the users to use it optimally.
NISG’s approach involved collecting data from different filed units, visiting the location physically, involving third party vendors for specialized work such as H/W testing etc. and talking to end-user to understand the ground situation among many other activities. The very critical activity was to involve the existing vendor in various discussions related to the issues under consideration.

NISG was able to come up with the list of issues creating problems in the system and convince the existing SI to resolve those issues without any impact on the existing system.
