Workshop on Big Data Analytics in Government

A Workshop Organized by National Institute for Smart Government in association with McKinsey & Company

Big Data Analytics in Government

About the workshop

Government of India is transforming service delivery landscape across the length and breadth of the country through technology intervention under Digital India initiative. This is having profound impact on all stakeholders, resulting in efficiency, transparency, speed and citizen empowerment, in turn leading to greater citizen participation in governance.

Around the ecosystem of these technology interventions, a wide array of citizen and business centric services are being delivered. Some of these initiatives include GST, e-NAM, Aadhar, Digital Land 2.0, UPI and the like. Rapid rise in digital financial transactions is aided by powerful instruments like Aadhaar and UPI on the one hand and greater penetration of internet, mobile phones & smartphones and Apps on the other hand. These are resulting in increased velocity of business and better quality of life for all.

All the above have led to generation and collection of a large volume and variety of data by government and stored in government IT systems and in various public and private systems. Globally, there are numerous examples of government institutions and public sector enterprises using Big Data Analytics to drive large scale impact. Many initiatives are being taken up in India as well.

NISG in association with McKinsey & Company, through the workshop, aims to provide a common platform for senior decision-makers in government to come together to ideate, explore and develop insights into opportunistic areas of use for Big Data Analytics in various areas of national importance.
